Challengers lose ground at top

Second played third at Holm Park on Sunday, with both teams having to settle for a point. Kenni Dinnel netted twice for Five Arches Bombers, and Ally Queen was also on target but a Michael McGhie brace and Ian Christine earned a share of the spoils for Morton Thistle. Terregles took advantage of their closest challengers dropping points as they saw off a dogged Gretna side to

earn yet another win. Gary White scored twice with Eddie Marshall, Shaun Kirk and Sandy Kennedy all on the scoresheet, while Gretna scored twice. Palmerston Colts also made up ground in fourth after grinding out a win over Dumfries. Brad Henderson had Colts ahead before Corey Wells levelled for Dumfries, but Ryan Gilmour earned the three points for Palmerston late on. Hole in the Wa were top scorers with Shaun Milligan putting them in front early but Riverside levelled the game after twenty minutes. it took til five minutes from half time for Adam Henderson to restore the Wa lead and just after the break he netted again. A quickfire fourth from Marc Zutic had the Wa in control and on the hour mark Mark Wilson added a sixth. Lee True headed home the first of a ten minute perfect hat-trick, with Chris Cloy netting in between. Annan Town climbed a spot with a four nil home win over Scaur, Dale Muir scored two with John Quinn on target and a goal from a trialist. Finally Normandy Star picked up a good win against FC Annan, Ben Gillon scored a volley and Ryan Harper scored twice before Jimmy Reid pulled one back with a rasping drive. Luke Broadhurst made it four for Star before Jimmy Reid scored again from the penalty spot and Ben Gillon restored the Normandy cushion before the break. A goalless second half was notable for a fine double save from Malcolm McEwen.
