Match Advice

Updated: Oct 30

Fixtures for U13, U15 and U17 will be posted on the league website – any changes to days or ko times should be discussed with opponents and match secretary a minimum of a week in advance to allow match official appointments to be made.

Teams are entitled to two free week requests per season, but these must be made TWO weeks in advance to the match secretary

THE HOME CLUB MUST:

1.     Book a park and changing facilities, contact opposition to confirm arrangements and check any potential colour clash (in which case the home club should change) then contact the allocated referee to confirm venue and kick off time asap before 8pm on Friday prior to a Sunday game or 2 nights prior to a midweek game.

2.     Ensure park is in a playable condition including adequate markings, and follow the procedure outlined below if in any doubt.*

3.     Provide regulation goal nets and corner flags to be in place half an hour before kick off for inspection by the referee.

4.     Advise the match secretary immediately should there be any changes or issues arising from any of the above arrangements.

BOTH CLUBS MUST:

1.     Be changed and ready to kick off at the specified time.

2.     Fully complete their details on COMET, including club officials and team kit, ensuring all players are eligible to participate and are not suspended, cup tied or otherwise ineligible in regards to the registration rules of the association and that full details of any trialists who may be permitted are completed and the submitted promptly before kick off.

3.     Provide a match ball and a club member to act as linesman as the referee requires.

4.     Ensure all players, officials and supporters conduct themselves in a respectable manner and show respect to the referee, opponents and local residents, including parking considerately, restricting foul language, using appropriate toilet facilities and cleaning rubbish from beside the pitch and changing room after the match.

5.     Pay the referee promptly after the match their share of the match fee.

6.     Confirm the result to the match Secretary, or as otherwise directed, within one hour of the match finishing.

*UNCERTAIN CONDITIONS:

1.     Where weather conditions could potentially make a pitch unplayable the home club should use their judgement to check as early as possible, let the match secretary know if there could be an issue, and consider alternative arrangements.

2.     If the home club feels it necessary, or away club requests, an official referee (preferably the match official) should be asked inspect the ground at least three hours before kick off (a fee of £5 plus travel applies).  If the ground is declared unplayable the home club must firstly contact the Match Secretary for further advice.  The away club must confirm the postponement with the Match Secretary before players are notified.

3.     If the referee inspects he pitch before kick off and declares the pitch unplayable, they will be entitled to half their match fee, payable by the home club

4.     If a game is started and abandoned the full match fee will be payable as normal
