Kelloholm comeback wins basement battle


Nithside and Scaur played out an eight goal thriller with both teams having spells leading before finally finishing level, both sides will feel they could have taken full points on the day and will rue missed chances. Goalscorers for Scaur were Chris Cloy, Ally Woods and Ross Lockhart, Nithside scorers were Mark Carruthers, Thomas Nicholson and Mikey McGhie - who had played the first half as goalkeeper! Annan Town played host to Moffat Thistle in what was always going to be a thorough examination of their title ambition and they came through with three vital points, Ben Savage cut in from the wing on seven minutes to open the scoring, Brian Mattinson then scored from the edge of the box on the hour to make sure of the points in a good competitive game. Tommy Jardine opened the scoring for Hole in Wa against Jolly Harvester after only three minutes but thereafter the game was painfully tight until half time. A half time team talk from Duncan Purdie got the Wa off to a good start as Dale Talaszko scored at his second attempt followed by a strike from Joe Jardine to more or less make sure of the points, Mark Wilson finished the game off with a penalty for Wa on 84 minutes. Kelloholm got a vital win against Loreburn in what was always going to be a tight game and will be delighted with the three points, Reece Brown, Robert McCormack and Keiran Crosbie had Loreburn ahead at half time 3-1 but Kelloholm came roaring back with a gutsy second half performance winning after strikes from Robert O Connor (2), Curtis Tudhope, Keiran O Connor and Alan Murdie. Normandy may well have assumed three points would have been easy against Black Bull but they got a real fright and had to work extremly hard to get the points as Black Bull ran them close eventually loosing by the odd goal in 3. Dale McLatchie scoring for Bull whilst Dylan Irvine and Kris Shannon scoring for the Dumfries side. Greens Park took the lead against Youth Utd when Cairn Jamieson opened the scoring before Islam Kadyrov smashed a 30 yard free kick high into the net for an equaliser, he then scored from close range to put Youth in front before Derek Hunter extended their lead. Anton Mackay then scored on the hour before Greens scored through Quinn Rogerson, Stefan Tate and Shaun Kirk scored late on to give Youth a good win. Ruthwell went behind after a defensive mix up before Ruthwell finally squeezed home after a tough comeback with goals from Jamie Robson and Josh Adams. In the late kick off Five Arches Bombers put a severe dent in Palmerston Colts title charge when they won 4-3, scorers for Palmerston Colts were Grieg Corbett with a power strike as well as an Ally Mason double to give the hosts a 3-2 half time lead, but Five Arches were not to be denied on the day with goals from David Bradbury (2), Duncan Smith and Tom Coles. Terregles knew they had to get back to winning ways and they did so away at Annan Development with a Jordan Jones hat-trick.
