In a busy week of football Normandy Star took top billing, claiming two Premier division scalps in three days as they made their way to the Heathhall Garden Centre Semi Final. An Aaron Halliday double and a strike from Jordan Nish disposed of Jolly Harvester on Thursday night to face Kelloholm on Sunday, where a Paul McCann counter and a penalty from John Paul Reid had them in control before Scott Milne pulled one back fro Kelloholm. Dylan Irvine restored the Normandy cushion but Kevin Roy scored for Kelloholm to set up a tense finish. John Paul Reid had the chance to seal it on 85 minutes but missed his spot kick, thankfully for him Normandy held on for the win. They will face Annan Town in the semis after they came from behind to ease past Palmerston Colts. Palmerston were on top in the first half but only had a Jai Harkness goal to show for their efforts, poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping denied them a second and they were made to rue that as Alan Milligan levelled and Michael Mendy scored to send Annan through. Nithside will play Moffat Thistle in the other semi after Nithside eased past Terregles by four goals to two, with doubles for Michael McGhie and Corey Henderson, Terregles counters came from Scott McCrone and Lewis Klose. Moffat edged past Five Arches Bombers by the odd goal in five, an own goal and Jamie Carlyle effort had them two up in the first twenty minutes but Bombers finished the first half strongly and a Thomas Coles strike got them back in the match. David Bradbury levelled the match from the penalty spot on the hour mark but a few minutes later Kevin Wilson powered home a header which proved enough to see Moffat progress. Summerhill continued their end of season improvement by beating Dumfries to leapfrog them in the table. Jamie Kimm opened the scoring with a low drive from the edge of the box, but Stuart Bradley levelled the match and in the second half Stuart Wight pounced on some sloppy defending in the box to put Dumfries in front. Summerhill rallied though and almost from kick off were level again through Mark Murray and the same player grabbed the winner. Jolly Harvester bounced back from their midweek cup exit with a good league win over Scaur, they controlled large parts of the match and were three nil up before Ally Woods grabbed a consolation for Scaur on 85 minutes, but Jolly still had time to add a fourth. Hopefully the result will prove a tonic to Jolly legend Stevie Little who is in hospital recovering after a car crash; everyone from the league would like to wish Stevie a full and speedy recovery.
