The knockout line up of the Doonhamer Bistro League Cup was decided at the weekend, and Palmerston Colts took their place in the Semi finals as the only side with a 100% record thanks to seven goals against both Park Thistle and Queens Bar. They were firmly in control against Park and were four nil up at halftime before Robbie Simpson pulled one back for Park but the Colts pulled away again, their scorers were Darren Tait with a hat trick, Craig Kerr, Greig Lawrie, Andy Gilston and Bryce Fraser, On Sunday the Colts found themselves two down at the break as Paul Trainor bagged a brace for Queens Bar, but the Colts turned on the style in the second 45 with Frazer McLelland scoring and Bryce Fraser equalising, Andy Gilston put them in front and Greig Lawrie and Craig Broadfoot hit doubles to put the icing on the cake. Hole in the Wa will join the Colts in the Semi line up, a Terry Jardine goal was enough to see off Normandy Star midweek and Five Arches Bombers were an even tougher nut to crack on Sunday. The Wa were in front early thanks to a Mikey Devlin header, but a David Bradbury free kick levelled matters and Cahir McLaughlin scored to send the Bombers in ahead at the break. Wa levelled on the hour mark with Mikey Devlin grabbing a second, and with ten to play Wa went ahead again as Sean Peat nipped in to score. Bombers were not to be denied and earned a draw as David Bradbury kept his cool to slot home a last minute penalty, Scaur topped Group B but their record was a single goal worse than the Wa so they will face a quarter final tie, despite an eight nil win over Black Bull and an impressive 5-2 victory over Annan Town, Chris Gibson helped himself to a hat trick in each game, Ross Lockhart grabbed a brace against Black Bull and Chris Cloy, Ally Woods and John Martin were also on target. Josh Notman and Andy Maxwell scored along with Chris Gibson against Annan Town who responded through Jame Jardine and Darren Watson as they fought to hold on to second place on goal difference from Moffat Thistle, who almost made up the deficit with a 9-2 win at FC Annan whose goals came from Keith Rogerson and Mark Leesing snr. Damon Campbell hit four, Derek Dunsmore, Niki Frame, Adam Kerr and Andy Dempsey scored but it was in vain as the 3-0 reversal at Annan midweek proved crucial. Annan will face Normandy Star in the quarters as Normandy finished second in group A thanks to hat ticks from Willie Beattie and Mark Cravens against Dumfries Athletic who scored through Wayne Petrie, but Ross Beattie, Dylan Irving and Kris Shannon also scored for Star. Morton Youth secured second place in Group C and a quarter final at Scaur thanks to a six one win over Kelloholm, Dillan Klose hitting a double and Jordan Barker, Ben Dempster, Shaun Milligan and Shaun Kirk also on target. Loreburn Thistle were hoping for a Morton slip up but had to work to take the three points in their match with Park Thistle as Jordan Gilmour put Park in front but Rees Brown equalised just before the break, Park were back in front after a solo effort from Robbie Simpson but Loreburn had Connor Docherty to thank as he turned the game with two goals. The final match of the weekend, although meaningless, was a cracker with eight goals shared at Clarencefield. Ruthwell were down to ten men in the first five minutes and Summerhill took full advantage with Jamie Kimm and Ross Findlater scoring. It went ten a side and Ruthwell roared back with Tony Power waltzing through the defence to score and Andrew Stephenson heading the sides level. Summerhill went ahead again through Kyle Gallagher but Jack Ball equalised, Robert Kirk had Summerhill in front once more but Josh Adams hit a cracking late equaliser.
