Moffat, Annan, Wa and Normandy sail through Sunday Trophy ties

It was, as expected, a day of mixed success for our clubs in the Sunday Amateur Trophy. Moffat Thistle progressed in the all DSAFL tie after a 5-2 win over Loreburn thanks to a Dale Talaszko double as well as counters from Damon Campbell, Adam Kerr and Roddy Carlyle. Loreburn responded with goals from Jamie Linwood and Robert McCormack. Normandy Star were our other winners on the road as they smashed seven past Bobbys Bar to progress. An own goal set them on their way before a Mark Cravens hat trick put them firmly in control. The hosts pulled one back before Jordan Patterson and Dylan Irving scored for Star, a second from Bobbys Bar was scant consolation and Sean McIntyre had the last word for Normandy. Annan Town will also be in the Second round draw as James Jardine opened the scoring inside five minutes, and Ashleigh Maxwell added a second, Redbridge pulled one back but Annan held on for the win. Also through are Hole in the Wa who recovered brilliantly after going three down in the first quarter of an hour before Eddie Marshall pulled one back and Bruce McQuarrie scored a header from a corner on 20 minutes, by the half hour the two sides were level with Mikey Devlin scoring. Five minutes later a Sean Peat header had Wa in front and before half time Mikey Devlin made it five. At the start of the second half the Dalry keeper saw red and Joe Jardine converted the resultant penalty. Nicky Paton added a seventh ten minutes from time and Allan Hunter made it eight before full time. Dumfries Athletic travelled to Wishaw and lost out on penalties after being pegged back from 3-1 up. Goals from Liam Watson, Ewan McLellan and Keenan Moss had them ahead but with an empty bench they could not see the match out. Scaur were also unfortunate to miss out as Lanarkshire went three nil ahead inside twenty minutes and Chris Gibson was carried off with a broken leg, Scaur did well to get back in the match Chris Cloy, Ben Murphy and Matt Coleman pulling it back. Lanarkshire went ahead again and Scaur levelled through Benn Nesbitt, but were beaten by a deflected shot with only minutes on the clock. The league would like to wish Chris a full and speedy recover from his injury. Morton Youth bowed out of the competition to Springhall Spartans, Ben Dempster scored for Morton but the visitors were too strong. Queens Bar also found the going tough with a Ewan Buchanan goal all they had to show for their efforts. Kelloholm travelled to Kilmarnock and struggled to get going as they bowed out of the competition, Palmerston Colts came close against Sauchie but lost out three two despite goals from Andrew Gilston and Darren Kerr. FC Annan also lost out at Forgewood, a Mark Leesing Snr double and John Campbell counter not enough. There was one match in the league, with Park Thistle hosting Ruthwell Rovers, and the visitors got off to a great start with Paul Otway firing them ahead on 25 minutes and Grant Bryson adding a second on the half hour. It proved to be a proverbial game of two halves though as Park pulled one back soon after the break through Robbie Simpson and Quinn Rogerson headed home the equaliser from a Robbie Simpson corner. Quinn then returned the favour for Robbie to head his second and put Park in front. Rab Clyde then scored another headed goal late on and in the dying moments Dougie Rae added yet another header to put a gloss on the scoreline.
