Last seasons top two squared up in the Premier Division and Annan Town put a dent in Hole in the Wa title hopes and kick started their own season with a fine win. Annan were two nil up after 25 minutes thanks to a Danny Lockerby penalty and goal from Carl Crosbie, Hole in the Wa reduced the deficit with a spot kick converted by Sean Peat on the half hour, but just after the hour mark Annan restored the cushion with an Ashleigh Maxwell header from a corner and five minutes later it was four, again from a corner with Liam Grimley firing home. The Wa got a late consolation as Sean Peat completed his brace. Normandy Star added to Kelloholm woes as they hit double figures, Paul McCann grabbing a hat trick, Terry Jardine, Jack Ogston and Kris Shannon hitting doubles and Bobby Green and Jordan Nish also getting in on the act. There was a cracking match at Penpont where Nithside triumphed over Scaur with a Thomas Nicholson treble, two from Michael McGhie and Stevie Green scoring to cancel out efforts from Josh Notman, Matt Coleman and an Own Goal, in a match where three penalties were missed. Palmerston Colts continued their winning start to the campaign as they eased past Black Bull Rovers in the Harkness Plumbing Trophy, Greig Lawrie grabbed two goals in each half, Andy Gilston scored twice and Jai Harkness, Liam Malcolm and Darren Kerr were also all on target. Morton Youth also progressed as they saw off Queens Bar. Queens Bar opened the scoring through Mark Carruthers but Ben Dempster levelled and a Stefan Tate corner was headed in by an unfortunate defender to put Morton ahead, Islam Kadyrov bagged a brace and Danny Heron scored a consolation for Queens Bar. The First Division was a goal fest, Five Arches Bombers were ruthless against Loreburn Thistle with Graeme Maxwell scorig four, Duncan Smith getting three, Chris Ross and Stewart Cobban hitting doubles and Cahir McLaughlin also on target as well as an own goal, Loreburn responded through Scott Murray. FC Annan also hit double figures as they put Park Thistle to the sword. Mark Leesing senior opened the scoring after only three minutes and Chris Norval scored twice to put them in control with only ten minutes played, Daniel Carey then got on the scoresheet and John Campbell hit two before half time. Chris Norval completed his hat trick before Cole Rogerson pulled one back for Thistle but Martin McKeeman and Mark Leesing Jnr scored with John Campbell completing his hat trick to bring up double figures. There was another entertaining tie at Clarencefield with Dumfries overcoming Ruthwell Rovers. Ryan Johnstone scored first for Ruthwell and Alan Milligan equalised then James Johnstone sent Ruthwell in ahead. Liam Watson and Keenan Moss scored to turn the match round for Dumfries but Jamie Robson scored from the halfway line to level the match again. Alan Milligan put Dumfries back in front and Malcolm McEwan saved a penalty which would have levelled the match again before Keenan Moss sealed the points for Dumfries.
