The Hill push leaders all the way

With most teams taking a free week to watch the Old Firm match there were only two fixtures scheduled for the weekend. A minutes silence was held before the games in memory of Summerhill player Mikey Rielly who passed away at the weekend and his team were looking to pick up the three points in his memory. They started brightly and went ahead early, but Five Arches Bombers equalised through Duncan Smith. Summerhill went ahead for a second time but David Bradbury pounced to send the sides in level. League leaders Five Arches upped their game in the second half and another Duncan Smith goal and an effort from Graeme Jamieson was enough to earn them the win. The other match was a Premier crunch as Annan Town hosted Palmerston Colts, and the visitors tasted defeat for the first time this season as Annan reignited the defence of their title with goals from David Rowan, John Quinn and a brace from Darren Watson. Looking ahead the first trophy of the season will be contested on Friday night at Marchmount as Palmerston Colts will be looking to get back to winning ways and taste cup success, they will face a stern test against Hole in the Wa who have also made a fine start to the campaign and look hungry for silverware.
