League action took a backseat to the Harkness Plumbing Trophy as the First Round ties were played at the weekend. Performance of the round had to be Nithside who continued a good run of form and were rampant against Normandy Star, Michael McGhie helped himself to four goals, Scott Muir bagged a hattrick and Thomas Nicholson and Stevie Green were also on target, with Normandy unable to bag a consolation. Biggest scorers were Hole in the Wa who heaped the misery on Kelloholm Arms by smashing in 15 unanswered goals. Sean Peat was tormentor in chief with seven goals, putting Eddie Marshalls four in the shade. Also netting were Davey Patterson, Derek Hunter, Joe Jardine and Scott Gordon as the Wa ran riot. The match at Jocks Loaning where Morton Youth hosted Annan Town was far tighter, eventually needing twenty penalties to separate the two sides. Islam Kadyrov, Will Burnside and Shaun Kirk scored in regulation time for Youth, with James Jardine, Darren Watson and a Danny Lockerby penalty for Annan meaning the match would be decided by spot kicks, Annan triumphing 7-6 after ten apiece. A Josh Notman treble, two from Ross Lockhart and strikes from Chris Cloy and Ellit Brown helped Scaur see off Ruthwell Rovers.
