There were some cracking cup ties played on Sunday, and its hard to pick the tie of the round. Palmerston Colts had lost the first final of the season and were up against high flying Moffat Thistle, but the Colts managed to curb the visitors thanks to a first half hat-trick from Liam Malcolm. Moffat did push Palmerston all the way, scoring three goals of their own but the Dumfries side went through courtesy of an Andrew Gilston finish from a tight angle. Five Arches Bombers were looking to show they can still compete with Premier sides and despite going two nil down at Annan Town with a Brain Mattinson double the Bombers fought back and a header from Rowan McGill and a Graeme Maxwell strike levelled the match. Darren Watson fired Annan back in front but Chris Ross tied the match again. Mark Rogerson put Annan ahead again but a Grant Elliot header sent the match to penalties where Murray Coulthard pulled off a couple of great saves to see Five Arches through. Another Premier v First Division tie also went to penalties. Dumfries Athletic went two nil up at Scaur with an Own Goal and a Ewan McLellan strike. An injury to the Dumfries keeper proved crucial as Scaur roared back with goals from Ben Louden and Craig Stitt sending the game to penalties, with Scaur triumphing 7-6. The final match was an all Premier tie and Nithside continued their fine recent form by putting Hole in the Wa to the sword. Doubles for Michael McGhie and Thomas Nicholson alongside a Stevie Green strike saw Nithside through. In the Premier Division Normandy Star faced Morton Youth and goals from Corey Thomson and Mark Cravens had them in front before a Chris Woods volley against his former side gave Morton hope, the match could have gone either way but Normandy stood firm and two late goals from Bobby Green made sure of the win, and means the six teams in the middle of the league are seperated by only two points. In the First Division Park Thistle climbed back to second as they added to Loreburn Thistle woes with a win. Robbie Simpson opened the scoring for Park but Craig Watson floated a free kick over the wall to level minutes later. After that Park stepped up a gear, regaining the lead through Rab Clyde then a Tyler Jamieson header gave them a cushion. Cairn Jamieson added a fourth before Rab Clyde scored again from another Robbie Simpson assist to put Park firmly in control. Dougie Rae pounced to make it 6 in the 80th minute and Andy Baird added a seventh a couple of minutes later before a late own goal completed Loreburns miserable afternoon. Ruthwell Rovers travelled to Black Bull and took the lead from a Grant Bryson header, though it was short lived as Black Bull scored from the edge of the box. Ruthwell were in front at half time thanks to a Josh Adams lob and in the second half Jack Ball bagged a brace. Black Bull rallied but a late goal was little more than a consolation.
