Bombers tie up title

The weekend belonged to the Five Arches Bombers who made it 16 wins from 16 in the first division, securing their return to the Premier division at the First attempt with 5 games to spare. Chris Ross and David Bradbury sent them on their way in the first half and a Graeme Maxwell double sandwiched John Campbell's consolation for FC Annan. Duncan Smith and Graeme Jamieson wrapped up the win and the title. Dumfries Athletic remain favourites to wrap up a play off spot as they took advantage of Annan losing to go seven points clear in second with a 3-1 win over Black Bull. Keenan Moss opened the scoring with Liam Watson adding a second. Steven Graham gave Black Bull hope but it was dashed by a late Alan Lamb goal. Park Thistle kept alive their slim hopes of catching Dumfries as they hit double figures against Loreburn Thistle. Robbie Simpson grabbed a hat trick and Nik Lismanis chipped in with a brace. Alan Finnegan, Cairn Jamieson, Laurie Reid, Jamie Simpson and Chris Mitchell also found the net for Park with Lewis Kirkpatrick hitting a consolation goal for Loreburn. Summerhill also picked up three points at the expense of Ruthwell Rovers. An even first half saw the sides go in level, Ryan Harper scoring for Summerhill and John Dalglish levelling. Brodie McKerlie put the Hill back in front with a thumping free kick and a late brace from Kyle Gallacher put a shine on the scoreline. Moffat Thistle continue their seemingly inevitable march to the Premier title as they saw off Palmerston Colts with a double from trialist Kevin Wilson, but Hole in the Wa kept the chase going with a 3-1 win over Annan Town thanks to a Sean Peat brace and Tommy Goss strike, Shaun Bell replied for Annan. Nithside also look to capitalise on any slip from Moffat, picking up another three points in an 11 goal thriller against Scaur. Thomas Nicholson scored twice, and Michael McGhie, Scott Muir, Sandy Kennedy and Rab Blyth all found the net, with Matt Coleman(2) Ellis McLaughlin, Ryan Beattie and Ben Louden scoring for Scaur. Morton Youth climbed to fourth as an Islam Kadyrov double was enough to earn the points from Queens Bar who replied through Kenneth Meader.
