Last Friday night Moffat Thistle opened up a nine point gap at the top of the Premier Division as they ended Annan Towns mathematical hopes of retaining their title; and in convincing fashion, as Derek Dunsmore, Kevin Wilson and Adam Henderson had them cruising at 3-0 by half time. Annan did score through Mark Rogerson to give themselves hope in the second half, but Henderson then Wilson completed their braces and Justin Borthwick added a sixth for good measure. The first match of this seasons Heathhall Garden Centre Trophy was played on Sunday and First Division champions had a chance to show what they will bring to the Premier next term as they faced Morton Youth. A tight first half saw a Ross Coupland header for Morton separate the sides, Bombers levelled shortly after the restart through Graeme Maxwell, the first of two for him, then Gavin Smith, David Bradbury Graeme Jamieson and John Hunt all got on the scoresheet, with Islam Kadyrov scoring a consolation for Morton. Normandy Star climbed to fourth in the Premier as they piled the pressure on Queens Bar. Gary White and Paul McCann both hit hat-tricks, with Mark Cravens bagging a brace and Jack Ogston also scoring. Rab Porter and Ash McCutcheon were on target for Queens Bar. A cracking match at Penpont saw Scaur leapfrog Palmerston Colts in the table as they came from behind three times to win. Palmerston opened the scoring with an overhead kick from Liam Malcolm, Matt Coleman levelled; Aaron Callender put Colts back ahead but a Ben Louden strike made it 2-2 at the interval. Andrew Gilston put Palmerston back in front and they then missed a penalty before Scaur made it 3-3 through Craig Stitt and five minutes from time stole all three points thanks to Robert O'Connor. The only first division match played saw Summerhill run riot against Black Bull Rovers at Holm Park. Chris Watson and Kyle Gallacher pitched in with a hat trick apiece, with Ben Gillon and Jamie Kimm also on target to earn an impressive win.
