Queens and Bull record back to back wins

There were some cracking matches in the First Round of the Heathhall Garden Centre Trophy at the weekend. First Division FC Annan travelled to Premier champions Moffat Thistle and almost pulled of the shock of the season as they lost out by the odd goal in nine. Damon Campbell and Andy Dempsey bagged a brace each for the home side and Adam Henderson scored their fifth, with and Own Goal and a hat trick for First Division top scorer John Campbell were the counters for Annan. There was also an eleven goal thriller at Lockerbie as Black Bull Rovers made it a cup double over Summerhill. Shahid Ali and Andrew White hit doubles with Robert Jardine and Kai Watson also on target to cancel out a Chris Watson hat trick and goals from Kyle Gallacher and Jamie Coulter. First Division champions Five Arches Bombers claimed a Premier scalp as they saw off Scaur by two goals to one, with the Scaur goal coming from Sean Wood. Queens Bar progressed at the expense of Ruthwell Rovers, with Derek McDowall opening the scoring but John Dalglish levelling before Mark Carruthers grabbed the winner. It took a solitary goal from Michael McGhie to separate NIthside and Palmerston Colts in the fifth match of the day to be decided by a single goal. There were more convincing wins for Hole in the Wa who scored six against injury hit Annan Town, Tommy Goss helped himself to a hat trick and Sean Peat pitched in with a brace and Eddie Marshall also netting. Normandy Star eased past Dumfries Athletic although the seven goal victory may have been unfair on Dumfries. John Howie, Gary White and Jordan Paterson hit doubles and Jack Ogston also scored, while Malcolm McEwan saved a late penalty to prevent a heavier defeat.
