Back to back wins for Bombers as they lift First Division Trophy

Annan Town and Morton Youth finished their league campaigns on Thursday night, they couldn't be separated in the table beforehand and they couldn't be separated on the pitch as they played out an entertaining four all draw, Ben Dempster bagging all four goals for Morton Youth while Palmerston Colts and Hole in the Wa also drew, sharing six goals. Tommy Goss hit a brace for the Wa and Joe Jardine also netted with an Andy Gilston Double and Greig Corbett earning a point for Palmerston. Gilston bagged another brace on Sunday as Palmerston eased past Park Thistle in the Houliston Cup.. Park had opened the scoring thought Owen Welsh but Palmerston turned it round to 3-1 with a thumping Craig Kerr free kick and penalty from Darren Kerr, Owen Welsh made it 3-2 before Palmerston pulled away with Aaron Callender also hitting a double and Greig Lawrie and Dryfe Findlay making sure for the Colts. Park were also in action on Thursday night, Quinn Rogerson opening the scoring against Five Arches Bombers but the Bombers roared back with Graeme Maxwell scoring twice, David Bradbury converting a spot kick and Rowan McGill adding a fourth. The Bombers were presented with the first division trophy on Sunday beofre their game against second placed Dumfries Athletic and with nothing at stake the two sides cancelled eachother out for large spells. Two second half goals from David Bradbury and Thomas Coles ensured Bombers finished the league campaign unbeaten. Premier Champions Moffat Thistle tasted defeat at Normandy Star with Adam Kerr scoring for the visitors but Gary White, Jordan Patterson and Paul McCann on target to give Normandy all three points. Queens Bar and Nithside also completed their league campaigns with Nithside running out 5-2 winners thanks to a hat trick from Michael McGhie and efforts from Thomas Nicholson and Stevie Green, Kenneth Meader and Mark Carruthers replied for Queens Bar. Finally Loreburn Thistle picked up three important points as Dylan Melbourne and Lee Astley took the reigns at the Dumfries team on an interim basis and led them to victory over Ruthwell to leapfrog their opponents in the league. David Cain scored twice and Laurie Dickson, Jamie Linwood and Lewis Kirkpatrick were also on target.
