With all league issues sorted it was the turn of the cups to take priority and the winners of the two divisions squared up in the Heathhall Garden Centre Trophy Quarter Final, with First Division Champions Five Arches Bombers upsetting Premier Champs Moffat Thistle. Callum Rankine headed Bombers in front early on and Grant Elliot doubled their lead before Callum Saunders pulled one back for Moffat. The second half was end to end stuff as further Bombers goals from Duncan Smith, Chris Ross, a Graeme Maxwell double and a penalty from David Bradbury saw Five Arches progress despite Jamie Carlyle, Adam Kerr and Darren Hunter scoring for Moffat. They will face Queens Bar in the semi final after they saw off Park Thistle in extra time. Robert Chambers scored the only goal of the first half but Park came back strongly in the second and a Rab Clyde strike and 35 yard free kick from Jamie Simpson turned the game on its head. Queens poured forward in the final minutes of normal time and got their reward in the third minute of stoppage time when Scott Henderson poked home the equaliser. Kenneth Meader put Queens Bar back in front in the second period of extra time and two late goals from Mark Carruthers and Davy Nish made sure of the win. Hole in the Wa and Nithside went all the way to penalties. Eddie Marshall fired the Wa ahead on 8 minutes but Thomas Nicholson levelled for Nithside on 25 and Michael McGhie scored ten minutes later to put them in front. Scott Gordon then levelled as his cross deceived the keeper in the wind to drop in the goal, it only took a couple of minutes for Nithside to get back in front with Scott Muir scoring. Two minutes from time Wa sent the tie to extra time as Bruce McQuarrie rose to head home from a corner. A goalless extra time saw penalties needed, and after both teams scored their first two penalties Keiran Murray tipped the third from Nithside onto the crossbar, stepped up to score from the spot himself and then saved another penalty allowing Tommy Goss to score the decisive kick. Their semi final opponents will be Normandy Star who made short work of Black Bull running out 7-1 winners thanks to doubles from Paul McCann and Jordan Patterson and strikes from Scott Learmont, Mark Cravens and Jack Ogston. Black Bull were also on the wrong end of a similar scoreline midweek to FC Annan as John Campbell hit 50 goals for the season with a hat trick, Jack Campbell also bagged a brace and Mark Leesing and David O'Connor also netted. Summerhill finished their league campaign strongly with a 4-0 midweek win over Loreburn Thistle, Chris Watson scoring twice with Ryan Feely on target and an own goal, they then beat Dumfries Athletic 4-1 thanks to Kyle Gallacher hat trick and Ryan Harper strike. Alan Milligan had levelled in the first half for Dumfries. Five Arches Bombers were rampant in their last league match, a treble for Mark McMahon, two for Duncan Smith and Darren Ross and goals from Tom McMahon, Chris Ross, Graeme Maxwell and Neil Sturrock put Loreburn to the sword. Hole in the Wa and Scaur completed their league campaigns with an entertaining three each draw. Chris Cloy, Sandy Bowie and Matt Coleman were the Scaur scorers while Premier top scorer Sean Peat added two more to his tally and Tommy Goss grabbed the other goal. There was also a Houliston cup match played on Friday night as Palmerston Colts eased past Morton Youth with an Andy Gilston brace and goals from Darren Tait and Aaron Callendar.
