Home advantage proves crucial in Scottish Trophy

There were mixed fortunes for our regions teams in the Scottish Trophy on Sunday. Moffat Thistle came back from three nil down with an own goal, Kevin Jack and a penalty converted by Adam Henderson levelling the tie and Julian Mills put them ahead before they were pegged back to 4-4 but Adam Henderson bagged his second minutes from time to send them through. Normandy Star also progressed with a solitary goal victory thanks to Jak Dingwall. Five Arches Bombers are also in the second round draw after Russel Jardine and Stuart Cobban scored to see off Eastend Thistle, Scaur triumphed in the all DSAFL tie as doubles from Ellis McLaughlin, Matt Coleman and Sandy Bowie as well as singles from Matt Thompson, Ben Louden and Shaun Wood saw off Summerhill who scored through Kyle Gallacher, Kyle Roberston and Chris Watson. FC Annan bowed out on penalties after a hard fought three all draw. None of our teams who travelled came back with a win, Park Thistle, Nithside and Sands all bowed out without scoring a goal as the quality of some of the central belt sides in the competition was evident, Dumfries Athletic at least had an Alan Lamb goal to show for their day out, In the only league match of the day Hole in the Wa ran out 4-1 winners over Palmerston Colts thanks to a Ben Dempster brace and goals from Allan Hunter and Eddie Marshall, with Ryan Kerr scoring for the Colts.
