Dumfries make a point against the Wa

The league took centre stage for the first time this season after the distractions of the league cup and Scottish Trophy. Four sides were playing their first Premier Division game of the campaign, and Normandy Star gained a measure of revenge for their cup defeat last week to Five Arches Bombers as Jak Dingwall grabbed a hat trick and Jordan Muirhead and Mark Cravens were also on target to take the points despite Russel Jardine and Tom Smith scoring for Bombers. Nithside also made up for a cup loss last weekend as Michael McGhie scored three against Morton Youth, with Rab Blyth and Thomas Nicholson also on target. Morton replied through Dylan Irving and Campbell Black. Moffat Thistle sit top of the table after a 3-1 win over Scaur, their goals coming from Adam Henderson, Stefan Jackson and Robert Telfer, with Kevin McKie bagging a consolation for the visitors. Dumfries Athletic picked up an impressive point against Hole in the Wa, and had gone 2-0 up after only three minutes thanks to a Taylor Brett double. The Wa reduced the deficit with a Murray Thompson header a minute later but the rest of the first half was goalless. Wa scored through Allan Hunter and a Marc Zutic screamer before Stuart Wight levelled for Dumfries. Allan Hunter put the Wa back in front but a Corey Wells effort ensured the spoils were shared. Annan Town continued their impressive start to the season as Carl Crosbie scored five against Palmerston Colts, and Danny Lockerby scored a sixth from the spot, Colts replied with a Darren Kerr double and goal from Gary Kerr. Queens Bar took charge of the First Division as they saw off Kelloholm with braces from Corey Henderson and Mark McGhie as well as goals from Ryan Beattie, Mark Carruthers and Kenneth Meader, Kelloholm grabbed a goal through Bryan Brown. FC Annan were in destructive form against Sands, with Mark Leesing scoring four, John Quinn getting a hat trick and Jimmy Reid bagging a double and Martin McKeeman, Ryan Riches, Dave O'Connor and Steven Smith also scoring. Park Thistle also picked up three points at the expense of Ruthwell Rovers. Dougie Rae opened the scoring and Chris Bailey added a second before Mikey Young gave Ruthwell hope which was quickly extinguished by Robbie Simpson. All three Park players scored again in the second half as they ran out comfortable winners.
