Impressive Win for the Wa

The weather is already making its mark on the Sunday league with three fixtures falling foul to the wet conditions on Sunday. Ths Scottish Sunday Trophy took centre stage and Hole in the Wa had a last minute change of venue from Holm Park to Marchmount, and the 3G surface must have suited their style as they were three nil up inside 15 minutes. Mark Zutic opened the scoring after 2 minutes, Mikey Devlin made it two five minutes later and Eddie McKeand scored a delightful solo effort to put the Wa in charge. There were no further goals in the first half but Wa started the second 45 with a second for Eddie McKeand and he completed his hat trick with less than an hour on the clock. The goals then rained in for the home side, with Dale Talaszko scoring on his return to the club, Davey Patterson powering in a header from a corner and Terry Traynor making it eight and then adding the ninth before Allan Hunter brought up double figures. Mikey Devlin got his second and Dale Talaszko scored in the 86th and 87th minutes to complete his hat trick and Terry Traynor nodded in to complete the rout and his own hat trick. Normandy Star will also be in the draw for the next round, though they had a tougher route, squeezing past Nethercraigs United by two goals to one. Palmerston Colts bowed out on penalties after a goalless draw away from home. Morton Youth also bowed out of the competition with a defeat on the road, though the result was overshadowed by a double leg break for keeper Andy Hollingsworth - the whole league wish Andy a full and speedy recovery. Queens Bar and Annan Town both suffered heavy defeats on the road and Five Arches Bombers missed out in a ten goal thriller. Kelloholm had their chance at home to PFD but the visitors were more clinical and won through. Moffat will try again next week after the pitch at Beattock was waterlogged. The only league match to go ahead saw Park Thistle open the scoring early against Sands, with Chris Bailey on target. Sands did level the match before Jamie Simpson put Park in front again and a long range free kick from Robert Chambers gave Thistle some breathing space. A second for Jamie Simpson and an own goal gave Park a comfortable win in the end.
