Our regions interest in the National Trophy ended at the weekend as our three remaining sides crashed out. Hole in the Wa travelled to face the defending champions Harvester and gave a good account of themselves but found them a challenge too far as they bowed out of the competition. Scaur were also on the road and took the lead against Lochore Castle through Sandy Bowie but the home side rallied in the second half scoring three times to progress. Normandy Star hosted Lesmahagow and found themselves up against it early on, they did come back into the game but goals from Greg Walls, Mark Cravens and Cammy Sinclair were not enough to maintain their interest in the competition. In the League Moffat returned to the top of the Premier despite falling behind to an early Ewan McLellan goal for Dumfries Athletic. Four goals from Adam Henderson and a hat trick from Stefan Jackson as well as a Kevin Jack strike earned Moffat the points although Dumfries got themselves back in the match with a strike from Stuart Wight bringing it back to 3-2 and a late consolation penalty converted by Alan Lamb. A dress rehearsal for Friday nights League Cup Final saw Five Arches edge Palmerston Colts in a five goal thriller. Ross Kerr bagged a brace for the Colts but Tom Smith, Russel Jardine and Connor Robb scored to earn the Bombers the three points. Annan Town edged a nine goal thriller as Morton Youth visited. Liam Grimley and John Campbell hit two apiece for the home side and Mark Rogerson also scored, while Morton had an Andrew Burgess brace, goal from Ross Little and thumping 25 yard free kick from Billy Gracie to show for their efforts. First Division leaders Summerhill faced a stern test against title rivals FC Annan and the two sides couldnt be seperated with Ian Christine scoring for the home side and Jimmy Reid on target for the visitors. Queens Bar took advantage to close the gap at the top with a win over Ruthwell despite going behind to a Luca Pagani strike, Mark Carruthers and Ryan Milligan both hit doubles with Rees Brown and Kris Shannon also on target. for Queens. Kelloholm travelled to face Park Thistle and took an early lead through James Taylor but Park turned things round to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to Owen Welsh and Quinn Rogerson. A penalty from Davyd Johnson levelled the match but Park took the points with a spot kick of their own converted by Chris Bailey.
