Mid season review

The entire weekend fixture card fell foul to the wintery weather, and with just a couple of games scheduled this weekend before the Christmas break it's an ideal opportunity to look at the season so far. Defending Premier Champions Moffat Thistle lead the way again and are proving to be the team to catch, but hot on their heels are Normandy Star who are sure to look to add to their squad in the break to bolster their challenge. Five arches Bombers have lifted the League cup and sit third in the table on their return to the top flight and are sure to be looking to make a push post christmas. Palmerston Colts continue to seek the consistency that would turn them into genuine contenders and Hole in the Wa and Nithside complete the mid table trio on twelve points who may all struggle to catch the leaders but wil be hoping the cups can give them an avenue for success. Scaur have a decent looking team but have proved hit and miss, they will look at the cups in the second half of the season to give them something to aim for. Annan Town have had a difficult season so far, struggling for numbers and facilities and will look to simply get on an even footing, hoping not to be dragged into the relegation battle. The bottom two will both feel they can put pressure on the sides above them. Morton Youth got their first win on the board and feel they just need a change of luck in the new year to help them climb out of trouble, while Dumfries have shown in patches they are capable of holding their own in this division but they have thrown away too many points from winning positions and know that needs to change. In the First Division it looks like a very interesting promotion battle. FC Annan look favourites as they have steadily improved so far and lead the way, Summerhill have sat top of the table for large parts of the season and are sure to put a strong challenge in. Queens Bar also have their eyes on a play off spot at the very least, while Park Thistle remain dark horses on the fringe of the battle. Kelloholm might just be too far back to get into the reckoning but are sure to have a huge say in who goes up as they will take points from the main challengers. Ruthwell continue to be a difficult team to beat at Clarencefield and will also take points from the teams above them, while Sands are yet to find their feet in the league but will also be looking to spring an upset or two before the end of the campaign.
