Normandy prove a point

Game of the day saw second place Normandy Star host leaders Moffat Thistle needing a win to put pressure on at the top. Normandy started brightly and a John Howie goal put them ahead, but it was cancelled out by Kevin Jack before half time. Moffat siezed the initiative in the second, with Damon Campbell and a Julian Mills header putting them in control. Normandy roared back and Jak Dingwall scored to set up a tense finsih, Normandy earned a share of the spoils with a Mark Cravens penalty but could not find a winner. Five Arches took the opportunity to close the gap on both as they triumphed over Dumfries Athletic on a heavy park at Maryfield. Four goals from Russel Jardine catapulted him into the top scorer reckoning, Graham Jamieson added two more to his tally and Russel Handley bagged his first of the season with Duncan Smith also on target, Cain McKie scored a free kick for Dumfries and Ryan Kerr finished the scoring with a late consolation from distance. Palmerston Colts showed no mercy to struggling Morton Youth. An Aaron Callender hat-trick and doubles from Ross Kerr, Gary Kerr, Craig Kerr and Liam Malcolm as well as goals from Darren Kerr and Greig Corbett lifted the Colts to fourth. Kieran Linwood replied with a brace for Morton and Fraser Henderson netted a long range free kick. Hole in the Wa travelled to Annan for a cup tie and progressed thanks to an Islam Kadyrov double and strike from Kris Shannon, Danny Lockerby his a consolation for Annan Town. FC Annan moved closer to securing the First Division title as they professionally saw off Sands. Mark Leesing bagged a treble, Jimmy Reid a double and John Quinn, Steven Smith, Jay Stubbs and Jack Campbell were also on target. Conner Docherty replied for Sands. Queens Bar kept the pressure on Annan though as they bounced back from last weeks loss to beat Kelloholm with two goals from Rees Brown, and efforts from Corey Henderson, Davey Nish and Jamie Rae. The final match of the day was a cracker at Clarencefield. Ruthwell Rovers opened the scoring through Grant Bryson with the only goal of the first half but Park Thistle levelled on the hour mark through Chris Bailey. Ruthwell were in front again five minutes later from the penalty spot and when Park were reduced to ten men it looked over. An equalising goal from Jonny Roome with ten minutes to play gave Park hope and they stole victory with a stoppage time header from Adnan Dogrultan to keep their play off hopes alive.
