Title joy for FC Annan


FC Annan sealed the First Division title with three games to spare as they beat Queens Bar by five goals to two. Chris McMenamin scored an early double to put Annan in control before Corey Henderson pulled one back. Jamie Nxon restored the two goal cushion and Chris McMenamin completed his hat trick before Rees Brown got a second for Queens Bar. Jimmy Reid scored the only goal of the second half as Annan confirmed their promotion to the Premier. Park Thistle took advantage of Queens Bar losing to move within two points of second place after a win at Kelloholm. Jamie Simpson put Park ahead but James Brown levelled for the home team. Adnan Dogrultan scored to send Thistle in ahead at the break but Sandy King drew Kelloholm level again. Park went in front again as Jamie Simpson scored his second and Jonny Riddick added a fourth to seal the win. Summerhill also picked up a win to keep their play off hopes alive. A brace apiece from Liam Watson and Kyle Gallacher as well as goals from Ben Gillon and Daniel Cottrell saw off Sands, who replied through Aiden Montgomery and Craig Kirk. In the Premier Moffat just need one more win to retain the title after a hat trick from Julian Mills was enough to see off Annan Town. Normandy Star kept up the pressure as they were ruthless against Dumfries Athletic. Michael McGhie top scored with six but Tommy Goss also bagged four and Mark Cravens hit a treble, Cammy Sinclair got two and Jordan Patterson also scored in the rout. Five Arches Bombers also retain mathematical hopes of the title as they hit five without reply against Morton Youth. Tom Smith scored twice and Tam Coles, Greg Rice and Russel Jardine were also on target. Nithside climbed to fourth with a good win over Scaur thanks to four goals from Thomas Nicholson and a Steven Green treble. Scaur goals came from Greg Stitt, Matt Coleman, Ben Murphy and Kevin McKie.
