New boys in with a bang

The Sunday league returned at the weekend with one new team - Crichton Campus, who hosted Normandy Star at Hospital Park. They wasted no time grabbing their first league goal with less than two minutes played and a penalty was dispatched by Chris Bailey to double their lead, Bailey went on to net five, and Bob Clark netted twice with William Hawkins, Cairn Jamieson, Lewis Banks and Jay Livingstone also all on target as well as an own goal in the Crichton tally. Normandy also found the net five times, with Jonny Bird scoring and Jamie Simpson and Sean McIntyre each grabbing a double. Nithside also grabbed a big win at the expense of Riverside. Michael McGhie continued where he ended last season with four goals, but he was eclipsed by Thomas Nicholson who grabbed five. There was also a Stefan Tate brace and strikes from Jonny Murray, Stevie Green, Scott Muir, Shaun Kirk and Kyle Robertson, while Luke Broadhurst netted for Riverside. Hole in the Wa hit eight against Summerhill. Kris Shannon opened the scoring with the first of his hat trick but Ben Gillon and Stewart Hannah then scored to put Summerhill in front. Bruce McQuarrie levelled and Shannon then Eddie McKeand put Wa in control again. Brendan Gillon reduced the arrears but an Own goal restored the Wa cushion. A penalty scored by Daniel Cottrell gave Summerhill hope but The Wa finished strongly and goals from Lee True and Sean M wrapped up the win. Palmerston Colts started with a win over Morton Thistle thanks to a Ross Kerr double, Craig Kerr and Mark Carruthers, with Damon Clues netting for Morton. Dumfries Athletic went three down to FC Annan with Eddie Booth scoring twice and Martin McKeeman on target, but Andy Linden and Cain McKie pulled Dumfries back into the game. Scaur travelled to Moffat Thistle and earned three impressive points thanks to a Rees Brown brace and strike from Kieran Hair, Moffat netted twice but couldn't rescue a point.
