A couple of massive midweek league games saw Hole in the Wa overcome Nithside in a five goal thriller, with Kris Shannon grabbing a late winner after Dale Talaszko and Stuart Wight had cancelled out a Michael McGhie brace for Nithside. Five Arches Bombers served notice of their intent for the season as they dismantled Palmerston Colts, Duncan Smith smashed a hat trick and Gary White also netted. Scaur also made it two wins from two as they saw off Dumfries, Rees Brown scoring twice and Robert Menzies, Craig Stitt and Ross Lockhart also on target, Ayrton Hoare netted for Dumfries. Annan Town opened their campaign with a three goal win at Ruthwell thanks to goals from Stuart Holmes, John Campbell and Dale Muir. FC Annan recorded a win over Riverside with Chris McMenamin and Eddie Booth bagging a brace apiece. Summerhill picked up three points with Liam Watson scoring twice and Brendan Gillon and Iain Christine netting against Crichton Campus. Morton Thistle also recorded a win as Stuart Ramsay and Angus Bendall scored twice and Ali Baird and Ross Little were also on the scoresheet against Normandy Star who replied through Kenneth Meader. The League Cup took centre stage on Sunday and result of the day saw Morton Thistle come back from two down against Hole in the Wa. After Kris Shannon had scored twice Damon Clues also bagged a brace with Angus Bendall and Jordan Gilmour completing the turnaround. Two matches went to penalties, with Annan Town seeing off Moffat Thistle after a one all draw and Ruthwell went through on spot kicks after sharing ten goals with Riverside. Luke Broadhurst hit a treble for Riverside with Craig Watson and Argyle Smith also scoring, a Luca Pagani double, Ryan Power, John Dalgliesh and a last gasp Grant Bryson header sent the match to penalties. Five Arches squeezed through against FC Annan thanks to a Duncan Smith brace despite Chris McMenamin netted again for Annan and Scaur fell behind to an Alan Lamb penalty for Dumfries before a Rees Brown hat-trick, Jamie Rae double and Matt Coleman strike saw them through. Palmerston Colts saw off Summerhill thanks to four goals from Jordan Barker and strikes from Ross Kerr and Ryan Beattie, while Liam Watson scored twice for Summerhill and Brodie McKerlie was also on target. Finally Nithside eased through against Normandy Star with Thomas Nicholson and Stefan Tate each scoring twice, Anton MacKay, Jonny Murray, Sandy Kennedy, Scott Muir and Robbie Simpson also all found the net. Normandy fought back from an early deficit and a Dougie Rae double and well hit Quinn Rogerson free kick gave them hope which was quickly extinguished.
