Unbeaten Annan top of the tree

Annan Town made it seven wins from seven at a canter on Sunday as Dale Muir and Liam Grimley both bagged hat-tricks against Riverside, with Stuart Holmes also scoring in a 7-0 victory. Five Arches remain hot on their heels but were made to work for the points against Morton Thistle, with Morton scoring first through Damon Clues. Bombers missed a chance to level when David Stairmand saved a penalty, but he could do nothing to stop Tam Coles equalising and then Stephen McDill putting Five Arches in front with a thunderbolt. Morton got back on level terms with a Scott Henderson header but Tam Coles put Bombers ahead again from the spot. Graeme Maxwell made it four and a Kenni Dinnel penalty brought up five, despite heroics from Stairmand in the Morton goal. Palmerston Colts were the days highest scorers, with three players grabbing trebles in their match with Normandy Star - Lee Martin, Craig Kerr and Lewis Rae. Declan Ramage also hit a brace and Aaron Callendar, Ross Kerr, Ryan Milligan and Ben McCormick also netted while Kenan Shek grabbed a consolation for Star. Hole in the Wa were also ruthless against Crichton. Murray Thomson scored early but Crichton grabbed an equaliser before Islam Kadyrov put Wa ahead again and Callum Loughlin scored the first of his hat-trick. Mikey Devlin, Allan Hunter and Terry Traynor all scored in the second half to complete the victory. FC Annan had to come from behind after Luca Pagani put Ruthwell ahead, but a Dion Irving double gave Annan the win. Julian Mills was another player who hit a treble at the weekend, with Jamie Carlyle also scoring as Moffat Thistle beat Dumfries Athletic. Finally Nithside climbed three place with a win over Summerhill. Michael McGhie scored three, Thomas Nicholson two and Shaun Kirk was also on the scoresheet, with Ryan Harper and Ben Gillon on target for Summerhill.
