Bombers on track to hold all four cups

Five Arches Bombers last tasted a cup defeat in the semi final of the TPS trophy last season to Hole in the Wa and took the lead in this one early on but Wa were level within a minute as Davey Patterson headed home a corner. Bombers took the lead again on the quarter hour mark with a header from a throw in but on the half hour Dale Talaszko tapped home a second equaliser. Another header saw Bombers in front again just before the break and on the hour mark they got two in front, and another throw in led to Bombers fifth. With ten minutes to play Davey Paterson headed home his second to pull one back and into stoppage time it was 5-4 thanks to a Bruce McQuarrie back heel and there was still enough time for Wa to send the tie to penalties with an Adam Johnstone header. The first 8 penalties were all scored before the Wa missed their fifth but a save sent it to sudden death and it took the Wa missing their 8th penalty and Bombers converting to settle the tie. Summerhill started the day top of the First Division and scored an early goal against Normandy Star through Ross Finlater. John Smith levelled for Star, before a quickfire double from Mark Carruthers but Normandy in front. Summerhill were reduced to ten men but fought back with goals from Dougie Rae and Kyle Gallacher levelling the game. An injury time winner from Corey Henderson gave Star their second successive win though. Dumfries Athletic had the chance to take over at the top and were in front against Ruthwell thanks to Andrew Linden but goals from Ryan Power and Paul Otway made it 2-1 to Ruthwell. Alan Lamb grabbed an equaliser for Dumfries with five to play before Andy Linden snatched the win with his second of the match. In the only Premier tie of the day Moffat Thistle piled pressure on FC Annan with Adam Henderson tormentor in chief with five goals, Jamie Carlyle and Billy Armitage bagged a brace apiece and Julian Mills brought up double figures.
