The first round of the Heathhalll Garden Centre Trophy threw up some interesting matches. The plum tie looked like being Nithside v Moffat Thistle and it didn't disappoint. Adam Henderson scored the only goal of the first half and Billy Armitage doubled the Moffat advantage before Thomas Nicholson pulled one back to set up a grandstand finish, but Thistle held on to progress. Another close match looked in prospect between Summerhill and Normandy and an even first forty five minutes saw Summerhill one up as Kyle Gallacher converted from the spot. Second half Sub, and former Normandy player, Dougie Rae netted from close range and outside the box to put Hill in control but Star rallied in the last ten minutes when Darrell Wilson pulled one back following a corner and Guy O'Brien also headed home, but they could not complete the comeback. Another intriguing tie saw Morton Thistle travel to Scaur and go three up with goals from Rees Brown, Nathan Tate and Paul Errington. Scaur pulled it back with Jamie Rae scoring twice before Morton added a fourth. Scaur finished the game stronger and Jamie Rae completed his hat trick and Matt Coleman levelled before Kieran Hair and Robert Menzies scored to send Scaur through. League leaders Hole in the Wa travelled to Ruthwell and the home side deservedly went ahead through Jack Ball before Dale Talaszko equalised. Ethan Black scored a back-heel to put Ruthwell in front again but Dale grabbed his second and Eddie Marshall gave Wa the win. There was another Annan derby giving FC Annan the chance to avenge a recent league defeat but Town were in no mood to go easy and a Dale Muir double was added to by Lewis Peacock, Ryan Riches and Mark Leesing as well as an own goal, while Chris McMenamin grabbed a consolation for FC Annan. The final tie looked like a tough task for Crichton as they hosted Palmerston Colts. Crichton put up a valiant effort and were rewarded with goals from Jonny Richardson and Lewis Banks but Palmerston eased through with four from Aaron Callendar, an Ellis McLachlan brace and strikes from Craig Kerr, Ryan Beattie and Liam Malcolm. There was one league match played with Dumfries Athletic hosting Riverside and the home team were in front through Callum Jess but Luke Broadhurst levelled, Callum Jess grabbed a second but Stuart Dalgliesh earned the visitors a point with a late equaliser.
