Bombers complete clean sweep of Cups

Five Arches Bombers and Palmerston Colts squared up in the TPS Trophy final, a repeat of the League Cup final which Bombers won earlier this season on penalties and a tight tie was guaranteed. The Colts got off to the perfect start when Aaron Callendar found space on the left of the box and lashed across the keeper to opening the scoring after only three minutes. Palmerston were on the front foot and Keith Proudfoot in the Five Arches goal was kept busy, first rushing out to dive at the feet of Jordan barker and then touching a Craig Kerr free kick onto the bar. Just after the half hour Kenni Dinnel picked the bal up in the middle of the park and unleashed an effort from 30 yards which took a slight deflection on its way into the net. Bombers then went ahead early in the second half when Kenni Dinnel fired in a daisy cutter from the edge of the box just inside the post. Palmerston levelled on the hour as the ball broke to Ross Kerr to fire home from 18 yards. Darren Kerr had a chance to win the cup for Colts but his header went agonisingly wide as the match went to extra time. With penalties again looming Graham Jamieson broke Colts hearts as he picked up the ball on the right and smashed home the winner for Bombers who now hold all four cups. Hole in the Wa took on Annan Town in an all Premier HHGC quarter Final. The visitors went ahead after two minutes through Stuart Holmes. Two quickfire goals just before half time turned the tie round, with Greg Alison equalising and Shaun Milligan heading the Wa in front. An edgy second half saw no further scoring til a minute from time when Shaun Milligan headed his second of the game to seal the win. The consolation cup also started at the weekend and First Division champions Dumfries will be looking to add the trophy to their haul. Ross Coupland scored a diving header and Corey Wells netted his first of the season to put Dumfries in control but Crichton Campus pulled one back before half time with a dangerous cross leading to an own goal. Callum Jess restored the two goal advantage before another own goal gave Crichton hope of snatching a point, but they couldn't find the leveller. Morton Thistle were 4-1 up against Riverside with a Callum Kerr hat-trick and Paul Etterington strike but Riverside roared back to earn a point, their goals coming from Luke Broadhurst, Stuart Dalgliesh and an Aiden Montgomery double. There were also a couple of Premier matches and Scaur saw their title hopes evaporate as they were held by FC Annan. Rab Menzies scored twice and Robert McCormack and Shaun Wood also netted for Scaur with Chris McMenamin hitting a brace for Annan and Jimmy Reid and Mark Leesing also scoring. Moffat Thistle kept their top half hopes alive with an impressive win over Nithside.Jon Muir scored two with Aiden Wallace, Adam Henderson and Dave Lyndsay all scoring, Aaron Currie hit the consolation for Nithside.
