Riverside eye cup final berth


Crichton Campus finished their debut league campaign with an impressive win over Morton Thistle which lifted them to third in the First Division, Crichton keeper was in inspired form to keep Morton at bay and a Mark Carruthers double against his former side earned all three points. Riverside put themselves into a good position to qualify for the consolation cup final with a fine victory over FC Annan. A brace for top scorer Luke Broadhurst as well as goals from Connor Docherty and Craig Watson put Riverside top of their group. Annan Town took the lead in their Houliston Cup tie with Dumfries Athletic through Liam Grimley but Corey Wells scored a second half equaliser. A late penalty was converted by Dale Muir who added a third for Annan in stoppage time. In the other tie Scaur travelled to face Hole in the Wa and went ahead through Ben Louden, Wa levelled through Eddie Marshall but Louden netted again to send Scaur in ahead at the break. Kieron Hair had Scaur further ahead before Kris Shannon reduced the arrears. Allan Hunter levelled with twenty minutes to play and Eddie Marshall grabbed his second two minutes later to put Wa ahead for the first time. A 90th minute Kris Shannon goal sealed it for the Wa despite Scaur managing to get one back in stoppage time through Eddie Prunty.
