Five Arches Bombers bounced back from an opening day defeat with two wins in a week to take them top of the league. A Duncan Smith hat-trick and Graeme Maxwell gave them a midweek win over Palmerston Colts who replied through Jordan Jones, Lee Graham and Ross Stevenson. On Sunday a Sam Copeland treble and doubles for Duncan Smith, Greame Maxwell and Graham Kirkpatrick as well as goals from Graham Jamieson, Max Boyd and David Bradbury put Riverside to the sword as their consolation effort came from Diesel Ferguson. It completed a bad week for Riverside who lost eight without reply to Normandy Star on Thursday night, with Robbie Simpson and Luke Broadhurst both bagging a brace and Kenny Meader, Dean Waddell, Mark Carruthers and Ryan Harper all on target, Normandy also picked up three points on Sunday, but had to come from behind against Ruthwell, as Owen Brown opened the scoring before Luke Broadhurst levelled then Kenny Meader, Ryan Harper and Robbie Simpson completed the turnaround. Ruthwell remain pointless after they also lost midweek despite an Owen Brown double and Jack Ball goal, a Bradley James hat-trick, Ian Cameron and an Own Goal gave FC Annan the points. Sunday wasn't as good for Annan though as they lost to Hole in the Wa without scoring. Dale Talaszko scored four and Terry Jardine netted twice for the Wa to make up for a midweek loss to Morton Thistle. Dale Talaszko and Paul Hair scored for the Wa but Paul Errington, Ian Christine, Jamie Rae and a fantastic strike from Stefan Tate gave Morton the win. They couldn't follow that up with a win on Sunday though, as they went behind to a Callum Jess goal for Dumfries, Darrel Klose equalised but Andy Linden scored from the spot to make it 2-1 before Paul Errington levelled again for Morton. Stefan Tate put Morton in front for the first time but that was cancelled out by an Own Goal before Ewan McLellan hit the winner. That win meant Dumfries are one of seven teams on 6 points after they also beat Scaur midweek with goals from Cain McKie and Callum Jess, while Ben Murphy netted for Scaur. The Penpont side did pick up their first win of the season at Gretna on Sunday though with Matt Coleman, Ross Lockhart and Fergus Waugh scoring to cancel out Kyle Jenkinson's goal. The final midweek match saw Terregles edge out Annan Town in a five goal thriller. Paul McCann, Alan Hunter and Sean Kirk scored for the home side with Greig Goodwin and Ryan Riches on target for the visitors. Another tight match saw Annan and Palmerston pick up a point each with Daniel Carey bagging a brace and Greig Goodwin also on target for Annan and Ross Kerr scoring all three for Palmerston.
