It was Scottish cup weekend but only four of our ten teams in action fought their way through to the second round. The only team to win on their travels was Ruthwell, who enjoyed a successful run in this competition last season and started with a fine 8-1 win on the road at C9 Foundation, with Callum Sloan scoring four, John Dalgliesh bagging a brace and James Johnstone and Jordan Brown adding to the scoreline. Scaur also recorded a fine win as Ben Murphy netted twice along with Fergus Waugh, Shaun Wood and Matt Coleman as they saw off Westwood. Terregles hosted Palmerston Colts and an Eddie McKeand hat trick, Sandy Bowie brace, Sandy Kennedy and Michael McGhie put them through with Arron Callendar scoring for Colts. FC Annan were the fourth winners, edging a five goal thriller against Finnieston Pheonix thanks to Corey Bell, Dion Irving and Paul Bell. Morton Thistle found themselves four nil down at halftime to Bullfrog but gave as good as they got in the second half with Fraser Henderson and Jonny Murray pulling goals back before they went 6-2 down, and Paul Errington and Paul Gilmour also scoring before they bowed out. Gretna made their debut in a bruising encounter as they crashed out at Symington Tinto, and Riverside had Dylan Melbourne to thank for keeping the scoreline to single figures at Colquhoun United, as Aiden Montgomery netted a consolation. Five Arches Bombers also went out despite Graeme Maxwell, Max Barbour and Graeme Kirkpatrick scoring. Dumfries Athletic also crashed out, with a Kieron Murray penalty their consolation in a three one loss. There was one league match, between third and fourth, and it was as tight as expected. Normandy opened the scoring through Ryan Harper before Hole in the Wa levelled from the spot through Chris Cloy. Luke Broadhurst chipped Normandy in front again but Chris Cloy converted a second penalty. A sour note early in the second half as Tyler Jamieson was carried off with a suspected leg break, everyone wishes Tyler a speedy recovery. With ten minutes to go Shaun Milligan found space in the box to smash home a winner for the Wa.
