Bombers in added time drama

Amongst a plethora of anticipated fixtures Riverside hosted new side Gretna at Jocks looking for their first points, The home side were leading a tight game when Gretna player manager Jay Stubbs suffered a leg break and the game was abandoned, The whole DSAFL wishes Jay a full and speedy recovery. There was also the small matter of the Annan derby with FC Annan knowing a win could see them leapfrog their local rivals, but Town had their sights set on teams above not below them, and four goals for Sean Dunbar, a treble from Billy Sutherland and strikes from Ronan Irvine and Dean Gallimore lifted them to third, while Shaun Bell and an Own Goal gave FC Annan an impact on the scoreline. Top of the table Terregles played Morton Thistle, with Thistle hoping to ignite their own title challenge with a win. The scoreline may not reflect the game, but four goals for Michael McGhie and one for Cammy Sinclair showed Terregles will take some stopping this season. Dumfries Athletic travelled to Clarencefield in hopes of a win, and despite a frustrating afternoon looked like they had earned it twenty minutes from time when Kieran Murray fired home. Ruthwell had other ideas though, and with time running out John Dalgliesh pounced to earn the home side a point. Palmerston Colts hosted Scaur after a difficult start to their league defence but dug in and goals from Ross Kerr, Aaron Callendar and Ross Stevenson gave them a much needed win despite conceding an own goal and Corey Meechan scoring for Scaur. An absolute feast of football was served up at Hospital Park where Luke Broadhurst had Normandy in front against Bombers in the opening minute. Bombers levelled through Graeme Maxwell, but Luke scored again before Graeme equalised again. Mark Carruthers put Normandy in front for a third time and scored another to make it 4-2. But Graeme Maxwell scored two more to level the match again. Luke Broadhurst completed his hat-trick two minutes from time to seemingly seal victory for Star but Bombers had other ideas, and Duncan Smith grabbed a stoppage time equaliser, there was still time for Connor Robb to grab an unlikely winner deep into injury time to keep Bombers second.
