Birchtree hold Stewartry bragging rights

The Sunday League returned after a week off following the death of the Queen, with an impeccably observed minutes silence before all games. A much-anticipated Stewartry derby took place at Dalbeattie with Threave hosting Birchtree, and the match didn't disappoint. Jamie Nish and Ross Hunter had unbeaten Birchtree two up, but Threave fought back with a goal from Finlay Whalen and thought they had levelled but the ref brought play back for a foul on the keeper, who was taken off after treatment. Ross Hunter grabbed his second and Elliot Harris made it four, Darrell Wilson pulled one back, but Birchtree saw the game out for the win. Hole in the Wa picked up three good points from the visit of Annan Town. After a goalless first half, Marc Zutic headed in the opener, and a couple of minutes later Andy Brown made a phenomenal save to prevent Annan equalising. Dale Talaszko doubled the Wa lead from another corner before John Campbell pulled one back from the spot to set up a hectic finish, but the Wa stood firm to claim the win.

League leaders Lochside travelled to basement side FC Annan and showed no mercy with Sean Potts and Ross Stevenson both grabbing a hattrick, Joseph Marshall and Diesel Ferguson bagging braces and Ryan Melvin and Adam Jardine on target while Callum Grieve netted a consolation for the home team. Normandy Star also scored a dozen, as Eastriggs visited Hospital Park. Luke Broadhurst opened the scoring, and an own goal followed before a Brodie Patterson double, Gary White netted a hattrick and Darren Johnstone scored two. Cammy Sinclair came off the bench to score twice before Jimmy Reid scored a late consolation for Eastriggs but Cammy had the last word completing his own hattrick. Dumfries Athletic saw off Inter Galloway with Sam Rowe opening the scoring and Andy Linden adding a hattrick. Palmerston Colts travelled to Kirkcudbright in what turned out to be a cracking match, the two sides sharing six goals. Greg Cowan, Rian Florence and Reagan Graham on target for the home side with Josh Cochran, Ally Mason and Russel Thomson the scorers for Palmerston.
