Bombers Set the Pace

In a big midweek fixture Five Arches Bombers earned a one nil win over Terregles thanks to a Ryan Pirrie goal, then they followed that up with an 8-1 win over Greystone Rovers at the weekend to be the only team with a 100% record after three games, Jordan Barker and Graham Jamieson hit doubles and Josh Cochran, Graeme Kilpatrick, Grant Elliot and Graeme Maxwell all scored while Marcus Zygadlo replied for Rovers. That result brought Greystone back to earth after they recorded their first win against Hole in the Wa with a brace from Josh McVinnie and strikes from Joseph Marshall and Declan Herries cancelling out efforts from Thomas Nicholson and Michael McGhie for the Wa. Hole in the Wa were involved in one of three draws on Sundays games as they took the first points of the season from Scaur. Kieran Kenny, scored for the Wa before a Ross Lockhart double and Fergus Waugh had Scaur in charge, but Quinn Rogerson then Thomas Nicholson netted to earn a point. Scaur had recorded a 3-0 midweek win over Lochside goals with Fergus Waugh, Craig Stitt and Ross Lockhart on target. Lochside put that defeat behind them to record an impressive win over Ruthwell Rovers. Arron Jackson scored a hattrick and Codey Ferguson and Chris Mitchell also scored with Ian Pringle and Ethan Black on the scoresheet for Ruthwell. Rovers had won their opening two matches following a midweek win over Normandy Star where Matty Donagher, Owen Brown, Luca Pagani had them cruising despite a Scott Anderson goal for Normandy, second half strikes from Brendon Gillon and Chris Bailey were not enough to earn a point.

Normandy did get their first win on Sunday as they knocked Eastriggs for 12. The new side gave as good as they got first half. Jordan Brown had Star in front before two Eastriggs goals turned the game, Normandy levelled through Ian Christine before Eastriggs got their noses in front again. Luke Broadhurst scored to level again and Chris Bailey put Normandy ahead. Luke Broadhurst added to more for his hattrick and Ryan Harper bagged a brace, with Chris Bailey also scoring another. John Marshall, Scott Anderson and Ben Gillon all found the net for Normandy with Eastriggs grabbing a late consolation. Threave Development have two points on the board with two 2-2 draws through the week. Jamie Nish and Aaron Campbell were on target against Dumfries who had Andrew Linden at the double, and Campbell Black bagged a brace for Threave against FC Annan who had a Sean Bell double to thank for a share of the spoils. That was FC Annan's first point of the campaign after they narrowly lost the Annan derby midweek despite a Bradley James strike, goals from John Campbell and Daniel Carey give Town the win. Annan Town then had to settle for a point against Palmerston Colts, Daniel Carey and Billy Sutherland were on target with Ross Stevenson and Lewis Rae netting for the Colts. Palmerston were top after the midweek games when Rae and Stevenson also netted as well as goals from Greig Lawrie, Darren Watson and Jordan Williamson alongside an own goal as they overwhelmed Eastriggs. The final weekend tie saw Terregles bounce back with a win at Dumfries Athletic. Goals from Matt Gibson, Dempsey Rowan and Allan Hunter had them in charge at half time, Cain McKie pulled one back for Dumfries in the second half.
