Goal rush at Gretna

The focus was finally more on football than the weather last weekend, with attention turned to the bottom of the table where Eastriggs were hoping to make up ground on local rivals FC Annan. Despite a Ryan Hetherington double they were left empty handed as FC Annan turned in their best performance of the season, with Connor Garner bagging a hattrick, Martin McKeeman, Callum Grieve, Liam Murray and Jimmy Reid chipping in with singles and two own goals helping Annan to victory.

Greystone Rovers also picked up a good win, with Jack Marshall scoring four, Marcus Zygaldo scoring twice an Olly Cairnie and Vinnie Henderson also scoring as they did the double over Normandy Star who had two goals from Chris Bailey as consolation. At the top, Annan Town continue their seemingly inevitable march to the title, with a treble from John Campbell and Billy Sutherland and Andy Shannon putting Hole in the Wa to the sword. Palmerston Colts continue the chase, and remain unbeaten after a win over Scaur thanks to a Darren Watson double and goal from Ross Stevenson, with Finlay Thomson grabbing a consolation for Scaur. Graeme Maxwell scored three for Five Arches Bombers and Chris Ross was also on the scoresheet, but it could have been more as Dumfries Athletic keeper Ronan Dunbar saved two penalties. Diesel Ferguson was on target for Lochside Club, but a brace from Stevie Green and Axl Menlove gave Terregles the three points.
