Six is the magic number

It was Sunday Trophy weekend, but only two of our clubs entered the national competition this year due to the ongoing pandemic, and neither will take any further part as Lochside bowed out away to Southside Spartans, with Dylan Haining scoring in a four one defeat, and Ruthwell were eliminated after after a four nil loss at Polonia Glasgow. There was one midweek fixture last week, with Palmerston Colts and Ruthwell Rovers playing out a cracking match at Holm Park. Arron Callandar and Ben Louden had the Colts two nil up before Ruthwell stormed back with a Luca Pagani double and goals from Ethan Black and Owen Brown putting them in front, Palmerston rallied and earned a point thanks to Andy Forsyth and Jordan Williamson strikes. Threave Development picked up their first win of the season at the expense of Eastriggs with two goals from different trialists and efforts from Aaron Campbell, McAulay Rennie, Andy Milne and Tom Mein. Annan Town kept the pressure on at the top of the table after handing Scaur a first defeat of the campaign as Mikey Thomson netted twice, John Campbell converted a penalty and Chris Norval was also on target while Ross Lockhart bagged a brace for Scaur. Five Arches Bombers continue to lead the way though as a hattrick each for Jordan Barker sand Graeme Maxwell saw off FC Annan who had Craig Smith on the scoresheet. Champions Terregles seem to have clicked into gear with an impressive win over Normandy Star. Ben Gillon had Normandy ahead before Dempsey Rowan levelled. An own goal put Terregles in front and free kicks from Allan Hunter and Gary White were added to by Nathan Cannon and Cammy Sinclair. At Holm Park Hole in the Wa and Dumfries Athletic were goalless at the interval before Michael McGhie and Shaun Milligan put the Wa in control, but Ben Jardine got one back and Kieron Murray earned a point for Dumfries.
