Trophy Joy for Town

It was a weekend of Cup football, with Friday night seeing Annan Town lift the TPS Trophy as Brian Anderson scored the only goal of the game to top a man of the match performance against Scaur. There was more cup woe for Scaur on Sunday as their efforts clearly took their toll as Lochside knocked them out of the HHGC Trophy, Rees Brown bagging a hattrick and Diesel Ferguson and Sean Potts adding goals while Craig Stitt netted a consolation. Lochside will face Terregles in the next round as the League cup winners cruised past Hole in the Wa with a clinical display.

Axl Menlove had Terregles ahead inside 4 minutes but Kieran Kenny levelled from the spot two minutes later. Axl Menlove had Terregles ahead again and Gary White gave them a cushion. Stevie Green made it four and John Howie added a fifth early in the second half to kill the tie. Dale Talaszko pulled one back but Allan Hunter scored for Terregles. Sean Peat scored a late consolation for the Wa but Axl Menlove had the last say, completing his hattrick in stoppage time. Palmerston Colts dispatched Five Arches Bombers with a Jordan Williamson hattrick and strikes from Ian Christine and Darren Watson, and Threave Development also recorded a five goal win over Eastriggs. Dumfries Athletic went one better to win a semi final spot. Callum Jess scored early goals in each half then Cain McKie sashed home and Sam Rowe made it four before Callum Jess completed his hattrick and Andy Linden added a late sixth.
