Wa continue to climb table

Some very tight matches at the weekend saw fourth place Ruthwell host fifth place Terregles and the places remained the same as the two sides cancelled eachother out in a nil nil draw.

Seventh played eighth at the Holm Park and Hole in the Wa leapfrogged Normandy Star with the win. Michael McGhie opened the scoring inside a minute before Ben Gillon levelled for Star midway through the first half. A penalty save from Andy Brown prevented Normandy taking the lead and Michael McGhie added a second before Mark Carruthers added a third for the Wa. Arran McCutcheon reduced the arrears with a 30 yard rocket but Michael McGhie completed his hattrick late on to wrap up the win. Annan Town were leading when their match was abandoned after an Eastriggs defender suffered a broken collarbone - we wish him a full and speedy recovery. Five Arches took the chance to narrow the gap at the top but were made to fight for the win against FC Annan. Dayne Moore and Greame Maxwell were Bombers scorers while Bradley James was on target for Annan. Palmerston Colts also kept up the chase at the top thanks to a last gasp win at Penpont. A Greig Lawrie double and Ben Louden had Colts in control before Scaur came back with goals from Ross Lockhart, Ben Murphy and Robert McCormack, then Nathan Brown saved a penalty to prevent them going ahead and Jack Louden squeezed home a winner as time ran out. Greystone Rovers picked up three more points despite going behind twice. Sam Rowe opened the scoring for Dumfries before a Joseph Marshall equaliser, and Sam Rowe got his second. Olly Cairnie levelled again for Greystone and Josh McVinnie scored twice to give them the win.
