Both sides had the chance to end dissapointing seasons with a trophy and had strong squads available. Normandy started brightly but Riverside looked organised and composed. There was little action to speak of for twenty minutes but then Riverside seized the initiative with 3 goals in 7 minutes, firstly a break down the right ended with a cool finish and then a long ball across the park was controlled and smashed home and a fine cross and equally impressive header seemed to have Riverside coasting. Normandy regrouped though and with ten minutes to play in the half Jerzy Grzebieniak wriggle down the right wing and fired across goal for Darrel Wilson to poke home. And just before half time Henry Sainsbury hit a free kick which the Riverside keeper parried but Darrel pounced for his second. Riverside restored a two goal cushion with a thumping free kick on the right from fully 30 yards. Normandy threw everything forward to rescue the game and on 65 minutes a free kick by Kenneth Meader was headed in by Henry. Riverside were defending resiliantly but for the second time this season keeper Grant Smith went up for a last minute corner and scored, to take the game to extra time. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Riverside and Normandy went in front for the first time as Dale Bower played in Darrel to complete his hat trick. With five minutes to play Kieran Johnston swung a cross in from the right and Jerzy slid in to score. And Jerzy added his second to wrap up the cup a couple of minutes later.
