FC Annan 2 Normandy Star 1 The opening day of the season was a wet one, with the game being moved from Annan to Lockerbie after a pitch inspection. Normandy seemed unusually slow to get into their rhythm but a lot of that was due to the way Annan started the game on the front foot. There was little to talk about in a goalless first half apart from a long range effort from Ben which hit the top of the crossbar Normandy started the second more positively but this left gaps at the back and a mix up between defender and keeper let the Annan striker in to open the scoring on the 51st minute. On the hour mark a free kick was played in with the Annan striker in an offside position, but Kenny got a touch on the ball which played him on and he took advantage to double the lead. Normandy looked for an immediate response with a couple of substitutions and Gadget got down the right to cross for Luke to slide home. Normandy were taking control now and looking for an equaliser. They went down to ten men as Will limped off with an ankle injury and all the subs used, but Normandy continued to dominate. Despite pressure we couldn't rescue a point, and must ow turn our attentions to Thursday night to get off the mark. A big thanks to Kieran Crosbie Roofing who have sponsored out new home kit for this season.
