Hole in the Wa 3 Normandy Star 2

Despite a good start to the season Normandy knew Hole in the Wa would be a real test of their potential and a tough match was expected. The two sides were tentatively getting the measure of eachother in the opening exchanges but a defence splitting pass put Harper clean through and he finished well to put Star in front on 12 minutes. Just three minutes later the Wa striker got into the box and went down easily under an innocuous challenge giving them the opportunity to level from the spot which was duly taken. Neither side was able to take control of the match for long but it was Normandy who went in front again in the twentieth minute as Dean made space in midfield and played a ball over the defender into the path of Luke who controlled and spotting the keeper off his line measured a lob into the back of the net. Just after the half hour the Wa levelled again from the spot after a cross hit the hand of a defender. Normandy then lost Tyler at the start of the second half, as he came off worst in a 50/50 and rebroke his leg. We all wish Tyler a speedy and full recovery. Chances were at a premium in the second half as neither side wanted to lose the game but with ten minutes to go a ball into the box was controlled well and smashed home to give the Wa all three points in a match which could have gone either way. The two sides will square up again next week in a cup tie with Normandy fired up for revenge.
