Normandy made the perfect start as inside a minute Gadget lifted a ball over a defender to Luke, who rounded the keeper to open the scoring. Bombers should have levelled on ten minutes but the striker managed to scoop over the bar inside the 6 yard box. Normandy had a chance to extend their lead on the quarter hour after fine work by Andy down the left, finding Dean who squared to Gadget but he screwed his shot wide. Within two minutes Bombers were level after some pinball in the box, and a shot off the post the striker collected the rebound and composed himself to slot home. It took five minutes for Normandy to get back in front, with Gadget battling to win the ball and feed Luke to round the keeper and score from a narrow angle. But on the half hour mark it was two each as the Bombers winger got to the byeline and squared for a tap in. Just before half time Bombers almost took the lead from a corner but for a goal line clearance and Normandy broke with Luke playing in Gadget to score from the left. Twenty minutes into the second half Normandy increased their lead as Jerzy broke down the left and cut back for Gadget to make it 4. The game continued to be end to end, with Bombers reducing the deficit on 76 minutes with a ball over the top pulled down and finished well by Maxi. A couple of minutes later a stinging drive by Gadget was well saved and with ten to play a ball into the box was helped on by the Bombers striker, looping over the keepers head to level the match again. With five minutes left Jerzy weaved his way down the left and squared for Luke to slide home to complete his hattrick. Two minutes into stoppage time Gadget almost completed his as he smashed against the bar, but Bombers broke and made it 5 all. An astonishing 6 minutes of stoppage time had elapsed when Bombers were awarded a corner, which was headed in to put them in front for the first time in the game and give them all three points. More stoppage time heartbreak for Star, but we pick ourselves up for Gretna away next week and a trip to Edinburgh in the Scottish cup the week after. A big thanks to today's match sponsor, Huntly's Garage for their support.
