After a run of bad results Normandy were in need of a morale boosting victory, while Gretna came to Dumfries looking to get a much needed win of their own. A blistering start from Normandy saw Luke intercept a pass and lay off to Gadget who smashed past the keeper from 20 yards to open the scoring with only 15 seconds on the clock. The two combined again with a similar result 2 minutes later for 2.0. Gretna looked lively up front, if shaky at the back, and got a goal back as Grant miscued a clearance to the feet of the striker who rolled into the empty net. With less than 10 minutes on the clock it was almost 3.1 as Jamie hit a free kick from inside his own half forcing the keeper to tip over. A couple of minutes later another howitzer free kick from Jamie inside his own 18 yard box was missed by the Gretna defender and Luke nipped in to lob the keeper. With only 15 minutes played it was 4.1 as Gadget flicked on for Luke to slot past the keeper. It took almost ten minutes for the fifth, with Harper this time provider, breaking down the left and cutting back for Ben to curl home a fine effort. Three more goals in a four minute spell before half time had Normandy cruising. Firstly Luke cut back from the right for Harper to steer home, then Luke went down the left and picked out Gadget at the back post then Luke completed his hattrick as he pounced on a weak back pass to round the keeper and net. Tempers flared in the second half with both sides reduced to ten men. Gretna were looking at damage limitation and Normandy were content to keep the ball and control the game. Gadget grabbed his fourth midway through the half and Ryan made it ten, pouncing on a rebound after a fine run and shot by Darrel.
