Dumfries Athletic were the visitors to Hospital Park for what is always a tasty encounter, and so it proved from the start as both sides came out at a very high tempo. Dumfries were pressing and trying to unsettle Normandy at the back with the fast break, but despite a couple of scares the Normandy defence stood firm and they were creating plenty of chances of their own, though the Dumfries keeper was commanding his box. A thoroughly entertaining first half looked like ending goalless until a ball into the Dumfries box was headed out and Luke volleyed back over the keepers head from 22 yards for the opening goal. Normandy started the second half brightly and when a throw in put Bailey clear, the keeper did well to save at his near post. Normandy were beginning to take control of the game and scored a deserved second with twenty minutes to play after a corner was twice cleared off the line before John smashed the ball into the net. Dumfries redoubled their efforts and pushed Normandy back, they earned a series of free kicks down the right and eventually one was taken down in the box and fired home to give them hope with ten minutes left. Normandy were nervy and Dumfries attacked with intent but the home side held on for three hard earned points.
