Kelloholm Arms 1 Park Thistle 7
After a barren preseason things were not looking positive for Park as they travelled to Premier side Kelloholm but a decent opening spell gave them hope which seemed to be dashed as the home side opened the scoring on ten minutes. Park stuck to their task though and deservedly levelled ten minutes later when Jamie Simpson drove across the keeper. Park were impressive from back to front with Lee Astley commanding in goals behind Adrian Hughes and Matthew Edwards in central defence and Rab Clyde and Owen Abraham controlling midfield and it was no surprise when they took the lead just before the break when Robbie Simpson rose to flick in a free kick from Jamie. Just after the break Robbie picked up the ball inside his own half and beat three defenders before being upended in the box, with Jamie stepping up to convert the penalty and in the 63rd minute Robbie lashed home a left footed drive from the edge of the area. A few minutes later Kelloholm were reduced to ten men but the match was already over as a contest. On 75 minutes Jamie whipped a cross in from the right and Laurie Reid stole in at the back post to net. With ten minutes left Rab Clyde found himself free in the box and cooly slotted home a sixth and with a couple of minutes to go Jamie played Robbie in again and he unselfishly squared to Laurie who mishit his shot but Tyler Jamieson was on hand to collect and finish the scoring for an emphatic Park victory. They will be hoping to continue that form with a tricky midweek tie against more Premier opposition in Morton Youth on Thursday night.
