Park Thistle 2 Ruthwell Rovers 3
Park Thistle 2 Ruthwell Rovers 3 Park knew this was a game they needed to win but Ruthwell are always difficult opponents and when a 3rd minute back pass deceived Kriss Lismanis in the wet windy conditions and the striker nipped in to score it left Park with an uphill task. Ruthwell were proving difficult to get through as Park dominated possession without creating too many chances, their best came on 12 minutes when Robbie Simpson burst into the box and crossed but it was the wrong height for Chris Bailey who sent it goalward with his chest and saw the defender clear off the line. Park went further behind on 38 minutes when a long range free kick found the top corner of the net. Robbie almost reduced the arrears a couple of minutes later with a neat turn on the edge of the box his shot went agonisingly wide. Ruthwell controlled the start of the second half and it was no surprise when they added a third as a couple of tackles were missed on the edge of the box and the striker fired home. A few changes seemed to give Park more of an impetus and Robbie saw a free kick hit the crossbar before he scored on 75 minutes to give them hope and a couple of minutes later Adnan Dogrultan ran at the Rovers defence and saw his shot deflected past the keeper into the net to set up a tense finish. Park almost snatched a point with a shot on 85 minutes which the keeper touched onto the bar which began a series of corners for Park which the couldn't benefit from as time ran away from them.
