Park Thistle 1 FC Annan 2
With Park the only team to have beaten Annan in the league this season the visitors were sure to be up for revenge but Park knew if they could repeat the feat they could go top of the table. An edgy start saw Annan draw first blood through Jimmy Reid and Park were chasing the game. They did settle and had the upper hand on the heavy pitch with Annan struggling with the conditions but always posing a threat. It took to the 35th minute for Park to level with Jonny Riddick bursting into the box and taking a tumble, top scorer Chris Bailey stepped up and made no mistake from the spot. Annan were ahead again before half time as a free kick was blocked by the wall but the rebound fell to an Annan player who found the net. The second half was played in much the same vein. Park enjoyed a lot of possession and perhaps had the better chances but could not find their way to goal. Dougie Rae almost snatched a point at the death but couldn't quite connect with a header at the back post. Annan will now be firm favourites for the title but the promotion race is sure to have plenty more twists and turns before the season is over.
