Park Thistle 1 Nithside 6
After an extended winter break Park were back in cup action, and they started brightly looking to catch their Premier opponents cold. Dougie Raehad a great chance on 10 minutes but saw his effort held down low by the keeper and two minutes later Nithside drew first blood as they broke down the left and the striker finished at the near post. Park continued to press looking to get back in the game and a period of sustained pressure just after the half hour ended with Owen Welsh seeing his effort hit the woodwork. Nithside started the second half much stronger, a fizzing long range effort put them further ahead on 46 minutes but Park could have pulled one back a minute later as Chris Bailey made his way past a couple of defenders only to see the keeper make a smart stop. Nithside began to take control of the game and Kriss Lismanis did well to tip a shot onto the post before an outrageous nutmeg left Bailey on his knees. Park held out til the 57th minute when sustained pressure following a corner lead to a third goal. Park did get a goal in the hour mark as a deep cross from Quinn Rogerson on the left made it's way to Bailey at the back post to slam home. It only took a couple of minutes for Nithside to restore the cushion with a ball through the middle to the unmarked striker who slotted home as Park defenders looked for the offside call which was never going to come. Two goals in the last 5 minutes made the scoreline look more one sided than the game had been as Park tired. Possession was given away in the edge of their own box leaving a 3 on 2 for the fifth and a quick counter attack caught Park napping for a late sixth.
