Loreburn Thistle 3 Park Thistle 2
Park had nothing but pride to play for in their final sectional match while Loreburn needed a win to keep alive their hopes of going though. It was Park who started the brightest and played some lovely football on the 3G surface, with Laurie Reid spurning a glorious chance and Robbie Simpson hitting the bar inside the opening ten minutes. Park did draw first blood on 20 minutes when a cross was fizzed across the six yard line and Jordan Gilfrog Gilmour knocked home. Park continued to look the better side but could not extend their lead and Loreburn pulled level just before half time with an incisive pass through the middle setting Rees Brown free to score. Park started the second half on the front foot again and had a few one on one opportunities before the second goal came as Jamie Simpson fired the ball down the right wing on the 70th minute for Robbie Simpson to run from the half way line into the box past two defenders and slot home his sixth goal in 5 games. Five minutes later Loreburn levelled again as Park tried to push forward and lost the ball leading to a quick counter and a ferocious finish. With eight minutes left on the clock Park went behind for the first time as a free kick from the right was diverted home at the near post. Despite their best efforts Park could not salvage the point which was the least their performance deserved but will look forward to the start of league action next weekend.
