Ruthwell Rovers 3 Park Thistle 2
It was a frustrating afternoon at Clarencefield for Park who were looking to get back to winning ways but failed to make the most of the chances they created. The home side went ahead inside 5 minutes as Tyler Jamieson swiped at a free kick from the right and only managed to send it into his own net. Park pushed forward but the Ruthwell keeper dealt comfortably with the efforts directed on his goal until the 32nd minute when Owen Abraham smashed home from 6 yards. As half time approached Ruthwell were awarded a free kick on the half way line which was lifted into the box and Ryan Johnstone was untracked his header looper over Kriss Lismanis and I off the underside of the bar. On 51 minutes a cross was flicked on by Dougie Rae who was pushed in the back by the defender and the ref pointed to the spot. Dougie stepped up to level the match again. A third Ruthwell goal came only 5 minutes later though, a sleight header to a short corner saw the ball somehow slip between the keeper and the man on the front post. Park pressed hard to rescue the game with Ruthwell looking the hit on the counter. Quinn Rogerson thought he had levelled when he was first to react as the keeper spilled a Jamie Simpson shot but his effort went wide of the goal. Park will feel they did not do themselves justice but will have to up their game next week against league leaders Five Arches
